7th and 8th Grade Head Coach – Andro Benard

Andro Benard  grew up in the Seattle area and as a youth played  in Parks & Recreation and CYO leagues.

Coach Dro has had three (3) different stints as a Garfield HS Coach. Twice as the head assistant which they won a state championship in 2006. Then went on to take over program as the head where he coached a team to a 3rd place finish in state. After resigning as Garfield’s coach and taking a break away from highschool hoops Andro joined the Cleveland Girls staff as head assistant. There he was able to win a 2nd state championship.

In 2016 Andro had the privilege of joining the Mercer Island feeder program which led to an extended opportunity of coaching the East Seattle teams. During his short time with the Islanders he feels he has made his presence felt thru the improvement of his Lady Hoopers.

Coach Dro has also been named the Head Coach for the Highline High School Girls Program.  Undaunted by the challenge of taking on a struggling program, his love of coaching and player development will be an asset to building the Highline program into a powerhouse in the competitive Seamount league

Our 6th Grade Head Coach – Rodney Delgardo

Rodney Delgardo  is in his  first season coaching for MIGB. Rodney played basketball for  Rainier Beach High School and from there at  Spokane Community College for two years.  He earned a scholarship to play at a four year program at The College of Idaho. Rodney was fortunate to go play professionally in Angola Africa after graduating, and then went on to play in China shortly thereafter. Kids inspire him to be a role model, to always watch what he is doing because you never know which kid is watching or who is looking up to you. There is nothing more gratifying than teaching the game and showing kids the way to life. Outside of basketball he looks forward to building relationships with these young ladies both on and off the court.
